Daily Coffee Break With God #6

By Brook Ault

New Life

Easter is just around the corner, and, before we know it, we’ll hit that magical time of the year when the bright sun warms our skin, the soft sound of birds chirping can be heard, and beautiful flowers bloom throughout campus. We rejoice at the fact that the long, cold winter is finally ceasing, hit up the thrift shops for cooler clothes, and take long hammocks naps between classes.

If you’re anything like me, the frigid Illinois weather really gets you down. I mean waking up at 7 in the morning and then walking to class in the freezing cold weather with wet hair isn’t exactly a delightful start to my day. However, when the sun starts to shine, even slightly, my mood becomes 80% more positive.

In just two weeks most of us will be at home attending church services, family dinners, and Easter Egg hunts. This is personally my favorite time of the year. New life is popping up all around us as we rejoice with our families what God has done for us. However, in the time of fellowship and events, it can sometimes be hard to remembering exactly what were celebrating. Adam and Eve came into the world bearing new life, surrounded by God’s beautiful creations. However, the scripture tells us that worldly deception and disobedience destroyed the beauty of human life.

Thankfully for us, we serve a God that is greater than anything or anyone imaginably. God restored this life by giving his son to die for our sins. He lived for us and died for us so that, like the flowers that bloom around this time of year, we could experience new life.

This Easter, I encourage you to resonate with that. Remember that we celebrate this holiday because God gave us new life. Our disobedience and worldly sin was covered by his unconditional love and grace.

Romans 6:23 says “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Trust in what God has done for you this spring and watch as he creates new life within you.
