- Visit the Victorian House Gallery and see In A Room With Many Windows
Olivet Nazarene University has a free gallery available to the public with a new exhibit that just opened last week, called In A Room With Many Windows by Gwendolyn Zabicki. Just walk into the Victorian House Gallery (577 S Main Street, Bourbonnais), sign in, and enjoy this stunning body of work. For more information on the Victorian House Gallery and Zabicki’s show, visit https://olivetartexhibitions.com/home.html and https://www.facebook.com/victorianhousegallery/.
- Visit Starved Rock
The weather is just right for hiking right now, so why not visit Starved Rock? It will be sunny though, so remember to bring some sunscreen! Some trails are still closed and masks are required for anything indoors. Remember that public restrooms are also closed due to COVID. To learn more about Starved Rock, visit https://www.starvedrocklodge.com/starved-rock-state-park/.
- Get tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Romeo and Juliet
If you enjoy theatre, then get your tickets for A Midsummer Night’s Dream or Romeo and Juliet performed by ONU Theatre at Olivet Nazarene University. This weekend’s production of Midsummer is already sold out, but a few seats are still available on September 26, which can be reserved at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shakespeare-in-the-park-a-midsummer-nights-dream-tickets-119924761189. Romeo and Juliet will be on October 22-24, and tickets may be reserved at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shakespeare-in-the-park-romeo-juliet-tickets-119926634793?aff=ebdssbdestsearch. Both productions are modern takes on the classic Shakespeare tales. Tickets are free, but shows are quickly filling up. Although free, donations will be greatly appreciated.
- Talk to a friend you haven’t heard from in a while
It’s so easy to lose touch with people, so take a chance to reach out to someone you haven’t talk to recently.
- Talk like a pirate
Arrr! It might seem like a silly holiday, but Saturday (September 19) is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Host the mainsail! Leave behind the landlubbers behind, matey, and have fun with this silly day. Avast, my hearties!
